BIS AG’s “Stachus Tower” a crowd-puller at the Munich city celebrations

Strong response to image advertising for industrial services

The ten-meter high accessible tower constructed by Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services AG (BIS AG) quickly became known as the “Stachus Tower” in the programme preview for the Munich Altstadtring festival held on Saturday, 19 July, and Sunday, 20 July.  For two days, visitor patiently queued for an opportunity of climbing the tower to enjoy the view from the top. With an area of 150 square metres located at the core of the “Business Mile”, BIS AG’s stand sought to highlight the appeal of industrial services, giving visitors an opportunity of finding out more about individual aspects in a playful manner. This provided the backdrop to the company’s efforts to highlight its training and employment vacancies.

As a premium partner of the City of Munich in the celebrations marking the city’s 850th birthday, BIS AG showcased the full range of industrial services required to ensure the availability of production facilities and thus making a crucial contribution to industrial customers’ profitability. These services cover the entire life cycle of an industrial asset from analysis and consulting to construction, extensions, modernisation and conversion. Activities such as pipeline and facility construction, process instrumentation, scaffolding, insulation and surface protection are required throughout the entire life cycle of an industrial asset. This was reflected at the stand with its motto “Outlook - Insight - Things to Discover”, with a ten-metre high tower made of scaffolding at the top of which a viewing platform was located, a pipeline hide-and-seek game and the use of insulation for furniture such as seats.

Further attractive highlights included infrared thermography. Here, visitors were able to see on a monitor the heat emitted by their bodies while riding a bicycle. Meanwhile, the efficiency of technical noise control was demonstrated in a special sound deadening cabin. A demonstration of oil rig maintenance was targeted at more athletic visitors, who were able to try out the climbing equipment, thus gaining an insight into the requirements of the job.  A 3D game stressed the high priority given to site safety not only on an oil rig but in all areas of industrial service. With this mix of playful elements, impressions appealing to all the senses and information, BIS AG was able to arouse even young visitors’ interest in technical careers.
