BIS AG´s pipe construction activities in Germany strengthened by an acquisition of part of the Lauer GmbH insolvency estate
The acquisition of the Bavarian branch of insolvent company Alois Lauer Stahl- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH, Ludwigshafen, marks a key step in the efforts being taken by Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services (BIS AG) to strengthen its German pipe construction operations. Roughly 70 employees including a project execution team are being integrated within BIS Rohrleitungsbau GmbH (formerly IKR). With Wacker Chemie, Burghausen, one of its largest customers, the Bavarian branch will contribute revenues of around EUR 12 million a year to BIS.The Lauer unit has enjoyed a firm position with its core customers for many years. With this acquisition, BIS AG is extending its customer range and strengthening its regional presence particularly in Burghausen/Gendorf as well as widening its range of pipeline construction services. Thanks to the close ties between BIS Rohrleitungsbau and BIS Industrieservice Süd, it will be possible to offer end-to-end services under a single roof in Bavaria to a greater extent than before. Says Gerhard Schmidt, head of BIS AG’s Central Europe Division: “With this acquisition, we are strengthening our market position in Bavaria and also able to offer our existing customers a wider range of services. At the same time, we are adding further qualified employees to our personnel resources for project execution.”
