Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services growing internationally
Ongoing growth - further acquisitions plannedWith an acquisition at the beginning of 2008, Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services (BIS AG) has highlighted its international expansion course. At the same time, it is systematically continuing its strategy of offering as broad a range of services as possible for industrial customers under a single roof.
Munich, 23 January 2008. With the acquisition of two businesses from US company Fru-Con-Construction Corp., a subsidiary of Bilfinger Berger AG, BIS AG is continuing its efforts to expand in the United States. With a current headcount of 1,890, Fru-Con Special-Projects generated revenues of USD 200 million in 2007 from industrial service, maintenance, turnaround and pipe construction activities. Fru-Con Engineering had over 290 employees last year, deriving revenues of EUR 35 million from the provision of planning and engineering services. Both companies, which will be operating under the roof of BIS Industrial Services North America in the future, are active in the Eastern half of the United States. Their customers include Procter & Gamble, BASF and Kodak.
Preliminary forays into the US oil and gas industry
“One of our aims is to create our own structures to act as a basis for broadening our presence in America,” says Thomas Töpfer, CEO of BIS AG. The company has previously been active in the United States via a UK subsidiary for almost two years and also holds a direct investment in a Canadian company. “We are confident that this move will allow us to enter the oil and gas sector in the United States. These are lucrative markets which we want to tap,” adds Töpfer.
